The south mexican frontier is presented as a complex scenary in which during the course of the centuries different and distinctive juridical overviews had been configurate, and diverse social and cultural elements had been mixed, variating the intensity of such mixture acording to the variations of the different political circumstances, passing from the indian mesoamerican homogenity to the novohispanic temtorial administration, ending with a general observation of the situation of the frontier in the xx century.
